Came to America in 1854.
In 1860, John (26) and Magdelene (22) Glaser owned a farm worth $800 in Summit Twp., Monroe County, Ohio where they lived with their daughter Margaret (1 yr 3 mos). John's personal possessions were valued at $385.
The family was found in Center Twp., Monroe County, Ohio in the 1870 census under the name "Gloper." Living in the household were John (35) and Magdalene (31), and children Margaret (11), Mary (9), Joseph (7), Catherine (5), John (3) and Sylvester (1). The farm was valued at $2500, and John's personal possessions were worth $300.
In 1880, John Glasser and his wife Lana still lived in Center Twp. with their children: Mary (19), Joseph (17), John (15), Western (Sylvester) (13) Kate (11), Laoe (9) and Charles (4). Note that the birth order of the children differs significantly from ten years earlier.
Magdalene Kittel [Parents] 1, 2, 3, 4 was born on 30 Aug 1838 in Bobenthal, Pfalz, Bavaria, Germany. She died in Nov 1897 in Woodsfield, Monroe Co., OH. She was buried in Martins Ferry, Belmont Co., OH. She married John Glaser on 24 May 1858.

F i Margaret Glaser F ii Mary Glaser 1, 2, 3 was born about 1861 in Monroe Co., OH. M iii Joseph Glaser 1, 2, 3 was born about 1863 in Monroe Co., OH. F iv Catherine Glaser 1, 2 was born about 1865 in Monroe Co., OH. M v John Glaser Jr. 1, 2, 3 was born about 1867 in Monroe Co., OH. M vi Sylvester Glaser 1, 2 was born about 1869 in Monroe Co., OH. M ix Jacob Glaser 1 was born after 1860.
Jacob Glaser is listed as a member of the Glaser family by researcher Betty Hartley, but he does not appear in any census with the family. Several possible explanations exist:
1) Jacob was born after one census and died before the next one.
2) Jacob was born after 1880, and moved out of the home before 1900.
3) Jacob and John Glaser Jr. are the same person. (John is not listed by Hartley, but appears in the
1870 and 1880 census with the Glaser family.)F x Angalene Glaser 1 was born after 1860. She died in Minnesota.
Angelene is listed by Betty Hartley as a member of the Glaser family, but she does not appear in any census. It's possible that she was born after 1880 and entered the convent before 1900. Another possibility is that Angelene and Catherine Glaser are the same person. (Catherine Glaser appears is the 1870 and 1880 census, but is not included in Betty Hartley's list.)
Angelene Glaser became a nun.

for several years and a serious illness of complications incident to advanced
age resulted in her death on Sunday, February 24th.

In 1880, day laborer John Kettle (34) and his wife Margaret (24) lived in Woodsfield, Center Twp., Monroe County, Ohio with their son Johnnie (2). John and Margaret were both born in Bavaria, according to the census. It is not certain that this is the same person as John Kittel, son of Christian Kittel. Significant discrepancies exist regarding the date (1846 vs. 1853) and place (Bavaria vs. Ohio) of his birth between the census and information provided by researcher Betty Hartley.
Josephine Dougherty 1 was born about 1855. She married John Kittel on 14 Oct 1873 in Monroe Co., OH.
