Donald R. Archer, 50, of McConnelsville, an employe of the Malta Manufacturing Company, died of an apparent heart attach at 11:45 p.m. Friday at American Legion Post 24 here, of which he is a member.
He was born July 3, 1923 in Bowling Green, a son of Harvy and Grace Luke Archer.
He was president of the Molders and Alliad Workers Union Local 27 AFL-CIO and a member of Eagles Lodge and the Forty and Eight Club. He was a World War II veteran.
Surviving are his widow, Zaida Shaw Trent Archer; two daughter, Mrs. Donna Winter of Savannah, Ga., and Miss Suxie Archer of McConnelsville; a step-son, William R. Trent of Cleveland; a grandchild and three step-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Marjorie) Chichester of Vienna, W.Va., and Mrs. Judson (Edna) Young of Athens, and a brother, Ralph of McConnelsville Route 3.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Miller funeral home in McConnelsville where Eagles Lodge services will be held at 8 p.m. today. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Fred Albrecht officiating. Burial will be in the Malta Cemetery. Graveside military services will be conducted.

Alternate spelling of surname: Matheney. The obituaries of Harley Luke and Grace Luke Matheny identify their mother's name as Alice Matheny Luke. However, the obituary of Sarah Matheny Mallet states that she is the mother of Harley Luke and Mrs. Grace Archer. The obituary appeared in the Zanesville Signal on 23 Oct 1950:
Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Mallett, 82, of near Caldwell,
sister of two Zanesville residents, who died Saturday at her home,
will be held at 1:30 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at the Crum Ridge
Church of Christ. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body has been removed to the residence from the Gardner
funeral home at Stafford.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Florence Hayes of Caldwell,
Mrs. Grace Archer of McConnelsville, Mrs. Helen Barnes of the
home, and a son, Harley Luke of Carlisle; 10 grandchildren; 12
great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Nellie Moore of Caldwell,
Mrs. Norvista Mendenhall and Mrs. Josie Eppley of this city; and
three brother, John Matheny of Geneva, Clyde Matheny of Colum-
bus, and Clarence Matheny of Bowling Green.

Ralph Junior Archer [Parents] 1, 2, 3 was born on 22 May 1920 in Bowling Green, Wood Co., OH. He died on 27 Dec 1997 in Reynoldsburg, Franklin Co., OH. He was buried in McConnelsville Cemetery, McConnelsville, Morgan Co., OH. He married Leona Faye McDaniel in 1941 in Ohio.

From the Zanesville Signal, 18 Dec 1942:
Pvt. Ralph Archer, of Cincinnati, has arrived home for a five-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Archer, east of McConnelsville, and with his wife. He will be accompanied on his return by his wife, who as resigned her work at White’s 5 & 10, and who will remain at Cincinnati with him, while he is stationed there.
