Miller lease to the Theodore Crum farm.In 1930, Theodore S. Crum (36) owned a farm in Jefferson Twp., Noble County, Ohio. He lived there with his wife Mary (36) and children Theresa (15), Leroy (13), Edward (11), Clarence J. (9), Earl J. (4 yrs, 5 mos.), and Pauline M. (1 yr, 11 mos.). The oldest four children attended school. Theodore worked as an oil well pumper.

southeast of this place, was fatally burned Monday afternoon when his
clothing caught fire from an exploding blow torch and died at 6:30 p.m.,
in Memorial hospital, at Marietta. Mr. Crum was working on an oil lease on the Alexander Bettinger
farm, a short distance from his home, and was attempting to heat an
engine with the blow torch when it exploded, setting fire to his clothing. The victim started to run to the home of his father, Leo Crum, one-half
mile away and on arrival his clothing was burned from his body. Phys-
icians were called and Crum was rushed to Memorial hospital where he
died shortly after arrival. The deceased is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Crum; his
widow and the following children: Theresa, LeRoy, Edward, Clarence,
Earl and Pauline, all of the home; and the following brothers and sisters:
Frank, of Fulda; Roman, of Ashton and Mrs. Charles Faling, of Middleburg.
The body was brought to the home Tuesday. Mr. Crum was well know and popular in the vicinity in which he lived
and his death was a great shock to relatives and a host of friends.

NOBLE COUNTY WOMAN DIES AT MARIETTA
Mrs. Mary Amelia Crum, 58, of Caldwell, died at
5:15 o’clock Friday evening at Memorial hospital in Marietta
following a major operation there Friday morning. She was
admitted to the hospital Wednesday.
She was a life-long resident of Noble County and
was a member of the St. Philomena Catholic church in Caldwell.
Mrs. Crum was the daughter of John and Rose Schafer Hill.
Her husband Theodore died 20 years ago.
Surviving are four sons, Leroy of Canton, Edward of
Byesville, Clarence of Washington, D.C., and Earl of the home;
two daughters, Mrs. Theressa Huffman of near Caldwell and
Mrs. Pauline Roby of Caldwell; 10 grandchildren, two brothers,
Albert Hill of Summerfield and William Hill of Canton; two sis-
ters, Mrs. Harley Estadt of Caldwell and Mrs. Minnie Yester of
Lowell.
Funeral services will be held at 9 o’clock Monday morn-
ing at St. Philomena’s Catholic church with Rev. Father O. J.
Pekalla, pastor of the church, officiating. He will be assisted by
Rev. Father B. J. Mattes of St. Mary's church at Fulda and Rev.
Father C.A. Nickel of St. Henry’s church at Harriettsville.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s cemetery at Fulda by the
McVay-Shilling funeral home in Caldwell.
