John Noll was the first blacksmith in Fulda. In 1860, 40 year old blacksmith John Noll lived in Enoch Twp., Noble Co., Ohio with his 40 year old wife Barbay and their six year old son, John. The birthplace for both John and his wife is listed as "Byron." (The census is legible, this is a reference to Bayern/Bavaria.) The adjacent farms in the census belonged to Adam Hartman and Rev. John W. Bruemmer, the parish priest.

At the time of the 1870 census, blacksmith John Noll (44) lived in Fulda, Enoch Twp. with his wife Barbara (50) and son John Jr. (17).
