In 1870, 36 year old Wendell Lori lived in Enoch Twp., Noble County, Ohio with his wife Katharina (32) and children Mary (7), John (4), and Rochus (1). Mary attended school. Wendell's farm was worth $2500 and his personal property was valued at $1460. Wendell, who was a US citizen, is listed as being born in Hesse Cassel. This conflicts with the 1850 census, which states that he was born in Virginia. The children were born in Ohio. Adjacent farms in the census belonged to Henry Miller and Barbara (Scheetz) Huffman.

At the time of the 1880 census, Wendel Lori (46) and his wife Catherine (40) lived in Enoch Twp. with four of their children: Mary (16 John (14 Elizabeth (9), and Barbara (2). None of the children attended school. This census lists Wendell's birthplace as Bavaria. Catherine and the children were born in Ohio. Neighboring farms in the census were those of Joseph Nau and Henry Hupp.

Wendelen died in 1900 prior to June 1, since he does not appear in the census with the family.

Records conflict on Catherine's place of birth: Virginia (1860, 1870, 1910 census) vs. Ohio (1850 census).

In 1900, 60 year old recently widowed Catherine Snider Lorey lived a rented house in Enoch Twp., Noble County, Ohio with her unmarried daughters: Mary (38), Elizabeth (23), Barbara (22). All of the women spoke English, but none could read or write.

The 1910 census contains a 70 year old Kate Lori (born in Virginia) and a 37 year old Lizzie Lori living as servants in the household of Magnus Werner in Noble Co., OH. (ED 0114, visit 0120). Ages for these women match the ages of Catharine Snider Lori and her daughter Rose Elizabeth Lori.

They had the following children:

F i Elizabeth Lori 1 was born on 15 Jan 1860 in Enoch Twp., Noble Co., OH. She was christened in St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, Fulda, Noble Co., OH. She died 2 on 12 May 1868 in Enoch Twp., Noble Co., OH. The cause of death was consumption (tuberculosis). She was buried in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fulda, Noble Co., OH.

Records conflict on year of birth. 18 Jul 1871 (Snider) vs. Jul 1876 (1900 census).

In 1900, 23 year old unmarried Elizabeth Lorey lived with her 60 year old recently widowed mother, and her two unmarried sisters in a rented house in Enoch Twp., Noble County, Ohio. Elizabeth spoke English but could not read or write.
