Louis P. Bernard, Sr., age 90 of Canton, passed away Wednesday morning, November 8, 2000 in Massillon Community Hospital following a three week illness. Born in Dysart, PA, March 17, 1910 to his parents the late Daniel and Mary Bernard, he came to Canton in 1929 . He was a retired employee of White Engines, retiring March 31, 1972 after 38 years of service. Mr. Bernard was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, The Old Guard Club, AARP, The Greater Retirees of Canton and Mayfield Center. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sophia Bernard in 1974 and his second wife, Wilma C. Bernard, July 13, 1997; three brothers, John, Joseph and Phillip J. Bernard; and two sisters, Annie Cicero and Rosie Reno. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Louis P. Bernard, Jr. and Theresa Bernard of North Canton, Michael J. and Vivian Bernard of Canton; one daughter and son-in-law, Rita and David Bott of North Canton, OH; 12 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Jospeh Catholic Church with Msgr. Frank A. Carfagna as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. SCHOEPPNERS MARK 15TH ANNIVERSARY
HARRIETTSVILLE - Mr. and Mrs. Sam Schoeppner of Macksburg
entertained with a dinner Saturday evening in celebration of their
15th wedding anniversary and the 13th birthday of their son, James.
Those from Harriettsville attending were Rev. Fr. Nickel, Miss Clara
Patterson, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Schoeppner, Sr., Miss Esther Rose
Schott, John Schoeppner, and Edward Schoeppner, Jr. The evening
was spent in playing cards.

STAFFORD - Sumner (Sam) Schoeppner, 46, who operated a grocery
store in Macksburg died unexpectedly after a heart attack at 11 a.m. Sunday
at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Schoeppner in Harriettsville.
He was a member of St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Harriettsville.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his widow, the former Virginia
Rhodes, two daughters, Mrs. Donald Bridgeman of Daytona Beach, Fla., and
Miss Judy of the home; a son, James, of Caldwell; four grandchildren; five
brothers, Clarence and John both of Harriettsville, Elmer of Coldwater, O.,
Harold and Edward, both of Lower Salem.
The body is at the Mallett Funeral Home here where friends may call after
6 p.m. Monday.
