Handwritten notes in a copy of "The Singer Family History" obtained from William Vogler state that his uncle William Bosold was born in Bradford, McKean Co., PA. Bradford is over 200 miles northwest of Wheeling, near the New York state border in western Pennsylvania.
In 1910, William F. Bosold (19) lived with his mother and step-father at 2232 Jacob Ave. in Wheeling, WV. His birthplace is listed as West Virginia. William was employed as a barber.

At the time of the 1920 census, 25 year old "William Boswell" lived in the household of his wife's parents, John V. and Mary A. Myer on Main St. in Lodi, Seneca Co., New York. Other residents of the home were William's wife, "Ellen" (21) and their daughter, Doris G. (8 mos.). Everyone in the household was a native of New York except William, whose birthplace was given as Virginia. John Myer was a day laborer, and William was employed as a telegraph operator. (Thanks to Myer descendant Stephen Kordas for finding the family in the 1920 census.)In 1930, William F. Bosold rented a house on Brooklyn Terrace in Odessa Village, Catherine Twp., Schuyler Co., New York for $30 a month. Living with him were his wife, Mary A. (32), daughters, Doris (10) and Mary (6), widowed mother-in-law Mary A. Myer (60), and a boarder named James Keady (54). According to researcher Stephen Kordas, James the brother of Mary Keady Myer.
William Bosold worked for the railroad. He and his wife had two daughters.
Manning’s Elmira City Directory of 1960 does not have a listing for Bosold. The same is true for the Elmira City Directory of 1956. The home at 825 West Gray Street, at that time was owned by Edward R Meddaugh. This directory also has a separate section with listings for the villages of Elmira Heights & Horseheads, but there is no listing for Bosold there either. Perhaps they still lived in Odessa at that time. Odessa is about 20 miles northeast of Elmira. West Gray Street in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s was a very nice neighborhood of well-kept homes. If you go on MapQuest, the 800 block of West Gray is between Foster Avenue & Guinnip Avenue near the city limits. This area flooded intensely during Hurricane Agnes in 1972.
William Bosold's obituary appeared in The Star Gazette on 7 Feb 1989:
