William L. Barth 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 was born in Apr 1866 in Ohio. He died 6 on 7 Dec 1964 in Canton, Stark Co., OH. He married Catherine Ludwina Schaad about 1897.

Sources conflict on place of birth:
West Virginia -- 1920 & 1930 census
Ohio -- 1900 & 1910 census

In 1900, 30 year old William Barth (Apr 1870) lived with his wife Catherine (28 - Mar 1878) in a rented home Fearing Twp., Washington Co., Ohio. Living with them were their daughters Rosia (2 -Oct 1898) and Lilian (1 - Oct 1899). William and Catherine had been married for 4 years. William worked as an oil well laborer. All members of the household as well as William and Catherine's parents were born in Ohio.

In 1910, 43 year old William L. Barth and his wife Caty L. (38) owned a mortgaged home in Fearing Twp. where they lived with their children Rose (12), Lillie (10), Bertha (8), Rolla (6), Ervin (4), Alfert R. (2). The 4 older children attended school in 1910. William worked as a laborer on the "Rail Rail" (railroad?). William and Caty had been married for 14 years and Caty had given birth to 7 children all of who were still living. Note that there were only six children enumerated in the household. The seventh child was Andrew, who was born after the official date of the census (15 Apr 1910), but before the census taker visited the Barth home (29 Apr 1910). Andrew should not have been counted in the "number of children born to" Caty Barth. All members of the household as well as William and Caty's parents were born in Ohio.

At the time of the 1920 census, 53 year old William Barth lived in Fearing Twp. with his wife Katherine and children Rosie (22), Lillie (20), Bessie (18), Rolie (16), Ervin (14). Alfred (11). Andrew (9), William (7), and Marie (4). Ervin, Alfred, Andrew and William attended school. William Barth Sr. was employed as a laborer in a steel mill. He was born in West Virginia, but both his parents were born in Ohio.

By the 1930 census, William L. Barth had moved to Marietta Township, Washington Co., Ohio with his wife Katherine L (58) and children Andrew W (19) and Marie E. (14). William was 30 when he married and Katherine was 25. This would place their marriage in abt 1897. William worked as a laborer for a "Safe Cabinet", Katherine as a servant for a private family, and Andrew as a laborer in a rubber factory. Marie attended school and all members of the household could read and write. William was born in West Virginia and all other members of the household along with both William and Katherine's parents were born in Ohio. William owned the home he lived in, which was worth $3500. The family did not own a radio.

According to his death certificate, William died in Canton, but was a resident of Washington County, Ohio at the time of his death.

Catherine Ludwina Schaad [Parents] 1, 2, 3, 4 was born in Mar 1872 in Ohio. She died 5 on 22 May 1931 in Washington Co., OH. She married William L. Barth about 1897.

In 1920, 20 year old Lille Barth lived with her parents in Fearing Twp., Washington Co., Ohio. She was employed as a laborer in a rubber shop.

Andrew S. Strahler 1, 2, 3 was born in 1869 in Ohio. He died 4 on 24 Mar 1927 in Washington, Co., OH. He married Rose Catherine Schaad on 9 Nov 1909.

In 1910, 31 year old farm laborer Andrew J. Strahler lived with his new wife Rosa M. (36) in the home of his wife's parents, Jacob and Catherine Schaad in Watertown Twp., Washington Co., Ohio.

In 1920, 40 year old farmer Andrew S. Strahler lived in Waterford Twp., Washington Co., Ohio with his wife Rose (46) and sons Clemence (8), Joseph (6), and Alfred (3). Clemence attended school. Living next to Andrew in the census were James (66) and Rose (64) Strahler. It is believed that these are Andrew's parents, but that has not been proven.

Rose Catherine Schaad [Parents] 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 was born on 16 Nov 1873 in Rainbow, Washington Co., OH. She died on 6 Jan 1952 in Marietta, Washington Co., OH. She married Andrew S. Strahler on 9 Nov 1909.

In 1930, widow Rosa S. Strahler (59) lived on a farm she rented on Lowell Route 1, Waterford Township, Washington County, Ohio with her children Clemence J. (sic) (19), Joseph R. (17), Alfred J. (13), and Catherina R. (9). The younger 3 children attended school the previous year. Rosa and the older 3 children could read and write. All household members were born in Ohio as were Rosa's parents and the children's father. Rosa's occupation is listed as farmer and the older 2 children's occupations is listed as farm laborer.
